Professional headshots

Professional headshots and portraits come in many styles, and the key to getting the photograph right is to answer these three questions:

What is the photograph going to be used for?

What are you wanting to tell the people who see it?

What do you want it to say about you?

If you ask us to take your professional portrait, we’ll start by asking you these questions, and trying to get to know you a bit better.  It won’t be a quick 10 minute job, but you’ll end up with images that are not only carefully posed and lit, and look great, but also reflect your personality, the type of work you do and say exactly what you want them to say.

Here are a few things to consider:

What is the photograph going to be used for? Professional photographs can be used on websites, in printed materials and in social media. Each use requires a different sort of photograph. Just look at LinkedIn to see examples of people using their holiday – or even wedding – photographs as their professional portrait. It just doesn’t say professional and business-like, and might give the impression that you don’t take your work seriously. What’s fine for Facebook won’t look right on your website or in a product brochure.

What are you wanting to tell the people who see it? Is your photograph to show people what you look like – and don’t underestimate the importance of that to your customers – or do you want them to see you in the context of where you work or what you do? What about the equipment or tools that you use? On your own or with colleagues? Dressed casually or formally – or in work clothing?

What do you want it to say about you? What’s your style – in a work context, not when you’re on the beach! Do you want your photograph to say formal, with gravitas, or relaxed and casual, or even very creative and a bit wacky? What’s important is what you want people to think about you when they see the photograph, and that will probably be heavily influenced by the sort of work you do.

Anyway, we’re here to help you with all of this, and to make sure you get the results you want and need. The packages below are a starting point, and we’re always happy to put something together that’s just right for you.,
